Hamline’s Data Analytics Certificate is designed for a hands-on, technical audience who wants to excel in analytics and be a part of organizational change by interpreting the results for senior leaders and enabling fact-based decisions.

Data Analytics Certificate program details
Start dates and application deadlines
We review applications on a rolling basis, meaning you can apply anytime. The Data Analytics Certificate program has two starts per year during the fall and spring semesters. We recommend applying at least six weeks before the term begins to ensure your spot.
Data Analytics Certificate program format
Courses are held online, with one session occurring on campus in the middle of the eight-week course. The in-person sessions will be held either on a Friday from 2 to 6:30 p.m. or Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Time to complete your Data Analytics Certificate
Quickly advance your career with an additional credential. The typical time to complete the Data Analytics Certificate is six to nine months, depending on when you complete your courses.
Data Analytics courses
You’ll finish your certificate after only three courses:
- MSBA 8100: Statistical Foundations of Business Analytics (4 credits)
- MSBA 8140: Programming for Data Analytics (4 credits)
- MSBA 8170: Machine Learning I (4 credits)
How to apply to the Data Analytics Certificate
Applying to the Data Analytics Certificate program is simple and only required if this is the first certificate you’ve applied for at Hamline or if you are not enrolled in another Hamline School of Business degree or certificate program.
- Online application (no fee)
- Official transcript of a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of at least 2.5 from a regionally accredited college or university.
- This should be sent directly from the institution to Graduate Admission or provided in a sealed, signed envelope. Official electronic transcripts should be emailed from the institution to gradprog@hamline.edu.
- You do not have to supply transcripts for courses taken at Hamline University.
Apply your certificate toward a master’s degree
Enrolling in a certificate program is a great way to experience what the master's programs at Hamline are like. With the Operational Change Management Certificate, you’ll earn credits that you can apply toward the following Hamline master's degrees:
