Four faculty of the Creative Writing Programs MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults have new book releases in 2026. They include Tae Keller’s When Tomorrow Burns, Nicole Melleby’s Brady Mason’s Perfect Fit, Eliot Schrefer’s Lulu and the Others, and Sherri L. Smith’s Candace, the Universe, and Everything, several of which have received starred reviews.

John Mazis, professor of history, published an opinion piece in the English edition of the Greek daily Kathimerini. He discusses how historical memory is used and misused, to justify contemporary political agendas.

Jessica C. Lang, assistant professor of psychology, presented her work, adult attachment and co-rumination in romantic relationships at the 2026 Society for Personality and Social Psychology conference. Her study examined whether attachment styles influence outcomes when couples discuss personal problems in depth.

Ken Fox, School of Business professor of critical thinking and conflict management, was a guest on a business podcast, "Partnerships for Profit." He discussed reflective practice, navigating complex conflict and insights from his book.

Curt Lund, associate professor of graphic design, earned third place in Gallery 96's winter 2026 exhibition for his screenprint “Par-A-Dice Motel.” Inspired by vintage hotel signage from Las Vegas, the piece was praised for its bold abstraction and graphic humor.

Kathryn Geurts, professor of global studies, co-authored an article on African somaesthetics focused on Aŋlɔ-Eʋe local concept called seselelãme. The study examines how movement, gesture and adornment express culture meaning and knowledge.

Syeda Quratulain Masood, assistant professor of sociology and social justice studies, research explores how ideas about danger shaped life during the U.S. occupation of Afghanistan. She shows how these perceptions influenced systems of governance and economic gain.

Betsy Parrish, professor in Hamline's School of Education and Leadership, wrote a chapter on supporting adult English learners for the fifth edition of "Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language.”

Angela Pelster-Wiebe, an assistant creative writing professor published her essay, “Letters From Minnesota" in Literary Hub, reflecting on her observation since the start of Operation Metro Surge began in Minneapolis.

Lifeng Dong, the Emma K. and Carl R. N. Malmstrom Endowed Chair in Physics, presented at an international conference. His presentation focused improving battery performance for everyday electronics like laptops and phones, as well as electric vehicles.
