Gerten takes the stage at Coweles Center

Sonal Gerten, a faculty member in the School of Business, will perform in Made in India, an original dance-drama at the Cowles Center, in three of the production’s six performances.

Gerten will perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug.22; Wednesday, Aug. 26; and Friday, Aug. 28.

Her interest in the production connects with her work in marketing, where she explores storytelling and elevating experiences and perspectives that are often let untold.

Based on a true story, Made in India is told through theater, dance, puppetry and movement. It brings more than 80 local artists and dancers together to tell one woman’s journey from childhood to adulthood as she navigates identity, culture, family and belonging.

Hamline student Aura Bafna, a sophomore forensic psychology major, is also part of the cast. The production features a multi-generational cast, including many South Asian adoptees and parents of adoptees.
