TRiO Student Support Services participants who are considering graduate school can sign up for a free exploratory graduate school tour.

Kimberly Feilmeyer, information literacy and collection development librarian, is set to represent private colleges and universities on the Shared E-Resources (SER) Task Force. Trial e-resources available through April 30. A new statewide databases launches in July.

Ryan Larson, assistant professor of criminology and criminal justice, is the lead author of a new article, "The Racialized Packaging of Punishment: An Instrumental Variables Approach to Incarceration, Probation, and Monetary Sanctions" in Criminology, the flagship journal of the field. He analyzed Minnesota court administrative data from 2004 to 2017 to examine the "packages" of punishment defendants of different racial and ethnic groups receive in sentencing.

Ken Fox, School of Business professor of critical thinking and conflict management, presented two sessions at the American Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section’s annual "Legal Educators' Colloquium" in New York on April 16-17. The sessions focused on classroom strategies for teaching conflict analysis and on developing comprehensive and coherent course materials.

Letitia Basford and Annie Ittner,, professors in the School of Education and Leadership, presented findings from a K-2 science-of-reading literacy study at the American Education Research Association. at the American Education Research Association on April 10 in California. John Mazis, professor of history, published "Perestroika, Glasnost and the Chernobyl Disaster" in the April 19th supplement of the Greek daily, I Kathimerini, Pages of History: Cold War and Nuclear Energy.

Mark Berkson, professor of religion, gave a lecture and led a workshop titled “Lessons from Chinese Religions: How Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism Can Enhance Our Lives” at Eastside College Preparatory School in California.

Bonnie Ploger, biology professor and artist- in-residence at the Center for Global Environmental Education, is retiring after 30 years at Hamline. The biology program is holding a pop-up art exhibit and reception to celebrate on Thursday, May 7, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Bush Student Center Ballroom.

The Career Development Center collaborated with faculty in the Social Science Division and hosted alumni and community partners for a pilot program, held Monday, April 13. The event created opportunities for students to build confidence, gain practical insights and form meaningful professional connections through mock interviews, salary negotiation practices and networking event.
