• Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Certificate

Teach English overseas, live abroad, and experience another culture while working.

Hamline’s TEFL program has been preparing individuals to become effective teachers of English to speakers of foreign languages for over twenty-five years. Whether you have little to no teaching experience or have already spent your career in a classroom, this program provides you with what you need to join our graduates who have taught in more than 40 countries worldwide!

With a TEFL Certificate from Hamline, you will:

    • Learn the teaching techniques you need to function effectively in an English as a foreign language classroom from internationally-recognized faculty.
    • Gain hands-on experience through 40 hours of teaching and observation in a classroom with English learners.
    • Earn an internationally-recognized certificate that follows rigorous international standards that reputable employers expect and respect.

    Why Hamline’s TEFL Certificate program?

    Experienced Faculty

Unlike other programs, Hamline’s program is taught by faculty with advanced degrees and years of experience in the field and who are all locally, nationally, and internationally recognized leaders in the profession.

    Real World Experience

Most programs offer you training without the benefit of helping you develop the skills you need to succeed. With Hamline’s program, you will get the industry standard number of contact hours that also includes 40 hours of teaching and observation in a classroom with English learners so that you have real-world engagement in a classroom.

    Accredited Program

Hamline’s program is one of only two university-based, accredited programs in the Midwest. With this comes global recognition of our program and preference for our graduates who employers know receive the best training available.
