Steps to register (for new students starting in spring)
Make an appointment with CASA
After you deposit, CASA will reach out via email to schedule your registration appointment. Before your meeting, we'll provide you with a list of steps to take and information to gather before you can register, including the steps below. Please call us at 651-523-2912 if you have any questions about scheduling your appointment.
Explore Hamline Plan requirements
The Hamline Plan is a mandatory, skills-based curriculum for all majors. Our Hamline Plan page breaks down the requirements of this program and specifies how to determine which of your classes might fulfill which requirement. You can also download the Hamline Plan Worksheet to help you keep track of the requirements you've already met or still need to satisfy.
Learn about the Hamline academic experience
During your first year, you should take introductory courses in different fields that interest you. While students are encouraged to declare a major by the end of their sophomore year, you may choose to do so earlier. Read the Undergraduate Bulletin course descriptions to find some introductory courses you are interested in. Introductory courses are 1000 level courses, or marked as "introductory" in the course description.
Sign into your Workday account
You will need to have access to Workday in order to register. The Central Service Desk (CSD) has sent you an email to set this up.
Set up your 2-factor authentication and complete your New Student Onboarding
After you've created your Workday account, please take a couple of minutes to set up your 2-factor authentication and complete your New Student Onboarding.
Create a Saved Schedule
Once you've reviewed the Hamline Plan and explored our different areas of study, you can view potential classes by looking in Workday under "Find Course Sections for Registration." As a general rule, you should register for a mix of major and non-major courses. Use the instructions linked below to create a Saved Schedule. You'll use this schedule when registering for classes with CASA.
Meet with CASA to register
During your appointment, we'll discuss any questions you may have, finalize your Saved Schedule, and determine a realistic graduation date. We'll also go over final steps and "what to expects" for the registration process. Students find this meeting extremely useful in planning their time at Hamline. We look forward to meeting with you!
