I am pleased to announce that Dr. Andy Rundquist, Professor and Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, has agreed to serve as Hamline University’s interim provost for the 2021-2022 academic year. Dr. Rundquist brings over 21 years of academic and administrative experience to the position. Since his tenure at Hamline, he has served as a faculty member in the Department of Physics, department chairman, administrative head, and currently, as associate dean.

Dr. Rundquist brings a strong understanding and appreciation of what it means to be a faculty member, including a deep knowledge of the many intricacies involved in balancing teaching, scholarship, and service. He has been actively involved with several different new academic initiatives including computational data science, global environmental education, and the online degree completion program. During the pandemic, he was responsible for developing a space plan for the campus. In addition, he serves on the University’s Student Success and Enrollment Committee.

In his administrative roles, he has been responsible for budgets and personnel decisions.

Dr. Rundquist is a true Hamline Piper. It is not unusual to hear him before you see him at many sports games blowing his trombone.

Dr. Rundquist is a committed and valued member of the Hamline University community and I am happy to announce his appointment as interim provost. Please join me in congratulating him.
