New brand platform celebrates Hamline’s legacy of leadership

I’m so proud to be part of Hamline’s community of extraordinary scholars, staff, students, and alumni. Together, we make amazing things happen!

In this issue, you’ll be moved by the inspirational story of sociology professor Máel Embser-Herbert, whose determination, sense of justice, and tireless work helped release an innocent man after 35 years of incarceration. You’ll discover the heroic efforts of a group of Hamline students who put their education on hold and risked their lives to save wounded soldiers on the battlefield during World War I. And, on a lighter note, you’ll celebrate the accomplishments of track and field star Gabby Koel ’17, whose dedication, skill, and grit took her all the way to nationals.

What do these and other stories in this issue have in common? They exemplify the myriad ways Hamline takes the lead—in the classroom, on the field, in the workplace, and around the world. From the pioneers of the past to the trailblazers of tomorrow, Hamline leads the way.

With that in mind, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of our new brand platform: We Take the Lead. This bold campaign showcases the significant impact Hamline has on the local community, the state of Minnesota, and across the country.

It provides a platform for students, faculty, and alumni to share their Piper pride. Get a first glimpse both in these pages and at hamline.edu/wetakethelead and see how your community is making real change.
