Hamline University has implemented two significant changes to its admissions policies.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hamline University has moved the enrollment decision day from May 1, 2020 to June 1, 2020.
“Hamline’s focus is on the health and well-being of our community and that includes our prospective students,” said Vice President of Enrollment Management Mai Nhia Xiong-Chan. “We all need to be flexible in the current situation.”
The second change is that Hamline University will not require the ACT or SAT for admission.
The decision to go test-optional has been under review for some time.
“Our admissions criteria remain rigorous and now the hurdle of testing, which has a bigger and more negative effect on students of lower economic status, has been removed,” said Xiong-Chan. “The decision is in alignment with our educational mission and promotes equity and inclusion.”
