King Presents at the UN General Assembly Better Gambling Forum and Is Appointed to the Scientific Oversight Committee

Professor Serena King presented at the U.N. General Assembly Brain Capital Alliance Better Gambling Forum on the significance of funding and research structures to support scientific work on gambling with co-panelists Drs. James Whelan of the University of Memphis, Lia Nower of Rutgers University  and Judith Glynn of the University of GIbraltar. 

Professor King also was named as one of eight members of the new scientific oversight committee of the Better Gambling Forum, a global initiative of the Brain Capital Alliance. Committee members are international experts in public health, addiction science and gambling research.

The committee, an independent authority, will ensure that research and policy recommendations from the forum meet the highest standards of scientific integrity and evidence-based practice. A clinical psychologist, Dr. King has researched adolescent developmental psychopathology, resilience, and behavioral health, with a focus on gambling and substance use. She brings expertise in longitudinal studies and prevention frameworks that inform public health approaches.

The forum aims to create a framework to address protecting brain health, prioritizing harm prevention and maintaining gambling as a safe form of entertainment. Read the press release for further details.
