Hamline Promotes Xiong-Chan to New VP of Enrollment Management Position

Hamline University has elevated Mai Nhia Xiong-Chan to its newly created position of Vice President of Enrollment Management.

Xiong-Chan, who came to Hamline in 2014 as Director of Undergraduate Admission, has led the university to four consecutive years of record-breaking first-year student enrollment.

“We are very proud of the work Mai Nhia has done for Hamline,” President Fayneese Miller said. “She is a true asset to the university and she richly deserves the promotion she has now received.”

Xiong-Chan has Bachelor of Arts degrees in English Literature and Women’s Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from St. Catherine University. Presently, she is studying at Hamline to complete her doctorate in education.

In her new responsibilities, Xiong-Chan will oversee Hamline’s offices of Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate Admission, and Financial Aid.

She is also the first woman of Hmong ancestry to hold a higher education position of this type in the United States.
