Film Series 'Writers Go To The Movies' Returns

'Writer Go To The Moves,' a film series founded by BFA/MFA faculty member Angela Pelster-Wiebe, returns for a new season on Wednesday, October 3 with a screening of "Tangerine," featuring guest writer, activist, and politician Andrea Jenkins (MFA '09).

Andrea is an internationally recognized writer, performer, poet, transgender activist, and the first African American openly trans woman to be elected to office in a major U.S. city.

The movie will be shown at the Bryant Lake Bowl at 7:00 PM. More details are available here, and tickets can be purchased here.

'Writers Go To The Movies' takes place at the Bryant Lake Bowl on the first Wednesday of every month during the school year. Each screening will begin with a brief (10 minute) introduction to the movie by the writer who will discuss how it has informed or inspired their writing practice (for better or worse). After the movie, the writer and a specialist (someone engaged with the film's themes or subject matter - a dancer/ scientist/ lawyer/ painter/ film scholar, etc.) will have a conversation about the film, writing, art making and the ways in which different practices inform one another. The audience is invited to participate in the conversation through questions and comments.

We hope to see you there!
