Professor Burleson Presents Workshop

Kathy Burleson, senior lecturer in biology, presented a workshop at the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS) annual conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. The workshop, titled "Science and Society: Anatomy and Physiology in Social Context," presented data from an interdisciplinary project between Burleson's Anatomy and Physiology 1 course and Ryan LeCount's Intro to Sociology (fall 2014) and Sociology of Racial and Cultural Minorities (fall 2016) courses. She also spoke about ways to incorporate social issues into anatomy and physiology and human biology classes to address diversity, inclusion, and the interdisciplinary nature of science. HAPS is the largest gathering of anatomy and physiology educators.
