The Passing of Dr. Vera Vogelsang-Coombs

Dr. Vera Vogelsang-Coombs, the founding director of the Master of Arts in Public Administration (MPA) Program, passed away on February 3, 2016 at the age of 65. She made a tremendous impact on the field of public administration and will have a lasting legacy at Hamline University.

“She was a great leader, innovator, and teacher in our field of public administration. We still feel her impact and positive influence at Hamline today. We have lost a giant in public administration,” said Craig Waldron, director of Hamline’s public administration programs.

Vogelsang-Coombs worked as a faculty member and founding director of the MPA program from 1982 to 1988. During her time at Hamline, she also founded the Minnesota Center for Women in Government and was awarded the MAPA Alumni Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Field of Public Administration.
