Model United Nations Team Awarded


Hamline University's Model United Nations team received accolades at the 2014 National Model United Nations Conference in New York. Melissa Barnes and Hannah Roberg took an Outstanding Position Paper Award for their work in the simulation of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR). The entire team won the honorable mention for Outstanding Delegation Award at the conference. This award is out of approximately 120 domestic and international schools at the conference.

The team was recognized at the closing ceremonies of the National Model United Nations Conference on Thursday, April 3. Professor Karen Vogel is director of the Hamline University Model United Nations program.

In addition to the competition, the team met with UN liaison and permanent officer of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, had a briefing with the staff of UN Women, and met with diplomats from the UN Permanent Mission of Rwanda.
