Birthplace of College Hoops in the News

Only four years after basketball was invented, Hamline University made history by hosting the first basketball game between two college teams. The Pipers played the University of Minnesota Agriculture School in the basement of the Hall of Science with peach baskets as hoops.

They interviewed Head Men’s Basketball Coach Jim Hayes, and Hrapsky talked to student Cole Mayer who is producing a documentary about Hamline's place in basketball history for his senior Digital Media Arts project.
