Alumna Wins Teacher of the Year


Saint Paul teacher, and two-time Hamline alumna, Amy Hewett-Olatunde was named the 2015 Minnesota Teacher of the Year by Education Minnesota. Hewett-Olatunde teaches writing and English to the all-immigrant student population at LEAP High School in St. Paul. She is the 51st winner of the prestigious award, and the fourth from the St. Paul district. 

Hewett-Olatunde has deep connections to Hamline where she earned her Master of Arts in Education and will graduate with her Doctorate in Education later this month (May 2015). In addition, she is an adjunct English professor in Hamline’s College of Liberal Arts and in Hamline School of Education’s English as a Second Language Program.
