Professor David Weiss Named Theologian in Residence


Hamline Religion Professor David Weiss has been named theologian in residence at Pilgrim Lutheran Church for the upcoming year. In his new position, Weiss will act as a long-term teacher and adviser to those seeking a deeper spiritual journey and more faithful discipleship of Jesus Christ. Beginning in October and continuing through next June, Weiss will present to the congregation as a teaching theologian, sharing programs around the theme, "Being a Theologian 'Out of Breath': Chasing after the Word that Chases after Us."

His first presentations will be Sunday, October 12, when he will offer a sermon titled, "A Parable Where Gospel Runs Amok: Talking Back to Find Good News.” His adult forum will be "Playing with Fire: Putting Words & Images to the Tune of a Welcoming God." Pilgrim Lutheran Church is located at 1935 St. Clair Ave. in St. Paul.
