Pope elected to bar association post

Health Law Institute Director Thaddeus Pope has been elected to the Governing Council of the Minnesota State Bar Association Health Law Section.

Pope also had a very busy summer. In July, he was one of 30 law professors selected to attend the 28th Economics Institute for Law Professors in Estes Park, Colorado, which was sponsored by the Law and Economics Center at the George Mason University School of Law. At the end of June, he made a presentation on legal methods to hasten death at the Compassion & Choices conference in Chicago. In early July, Compassion & Choices invited him to participate on an expert guidelines drafting panel. At the end of July, he made two presentations at the Southeast Association of Law Schools (SEALS) Annual Meeting in Amelia Island, Florida; "The Meaning of Reproductive Rights Today" and "Implementing Healthcare Reform: What the Headlines Missed." Further, his chapter on "Medical Futility" was just published in "Guidance for Healthcare Ethics Committees" by Cambridge University Press.
