    Secure your Hamline Financial Aid

    New undergraduate students, follow these steps to finance your education.

    1. Review your financial aid award letter and brochure. Contact Financial Aid and/or Student Accounts if you have questions.
    2. Use our online cost estimator to help plan how to finance your education
    3. If you have not already done so, submit your $400 deposit to the Hamline Admission Office before the National Response Deadline: May 1, 2017.
    4. Apply for outside scholarships
    5. Set up and check your Hamline email. Look for Hamline emails with your username and ID information in the email you provided with your application.


    1. Submit a Student Consent to Release Financial Information form if you want Hamline to be able to talk to someone other than you, including spouses and parents, about your online e-bill and/or financial aid.
    2. Keep financial aid in mind when you register for classes:
      1. If you have a MN State Grant, you need to take 15 credits per term.
      2. To progress grade levels and possibly have increased federal loan eligibility, you need to pass 32 credits per year.
    3. Apply for loans (each require separate applications). Priority deadline for fall is July 1. Note that some are based on credit checks.


    1. View your first online e-bill. Notices will be emailed to students in mid-July.
    2. Authorize e-bill guests on Piperline if you want someone other than you to have access to view and pay your online e-bill.
    3. To transfer any existing college credits to Hamline send in official college transcripts to Hamline Admission as soon as they are available.
    4. If you have health insurance, waive the automatic Hamline health insurance charge each year by entering your policy information on Piperline after you receive your online e-bill. 
    5. You may choose to finance a portion of your costs with a monthly installment plan. Sign up using Tuition Management Systems.  Your first payment is due August 1.


    1. Are you considering working on campus? Prepare to applying for work study positions.
      1. Create your résumé
      2. Research job opportunities
      3. Bring all of the required documentation (SSN card, passport, etc).
    2. Notify Financial Aid of all expected outside scholarships at finaid@hamline.edu
    3. Make your first fall semester payment by August 15.
