Dr. Wallace (“Wally”) Swan Presented and Will Speak at Upcoming Events

Dr. Wallace (“Wally”) Swan spoke on a panel entitled “COVID-19 and Implications for the LGBTQ+ Community” with his paper entitled “The LGBTQIA community and COVID-19: Devastation or Opportunity” sponsored by the ASPA Michigan Capital Area Chapter, February 24, 2021, 12:00-1:30 pm. CST. 

 Dr. Swan is Chair of an ASPA National Conference panel on Friday, April 9, 2021, entitled “The Impact of the Pandemic on the LGBTQIA Community“ with a paper entitled “LGBTQIA Issues Facing the New Administration: Employment, Medical Care, Personal Finances, and Hunger.”

Dr. Swan will be speaking on a panel entitled “Rising to the Challenge: Modern Issues in LGBTQ+ Administration” for the Democracy and Social Justice Section (a section of ASPA) on Tuesday, May 4th, 12-1:30 pm. with a paper entitled “The LGBTQ Community and the Pandemic: Wreckage to Renaissance.” Contact Sean McCandless at smcca8@uis.edu for admission to the Zoom session.

Dr. Swan will be moderating a panel for the Democracy and Social Justice Section to discuss new books by leading public administration scholars including Richard Greggory Johnson III (“Unheard Voices: A Collection of Narratives by Black, Gay and Bisexual Men”, 2021) and Lorenda Naylor (“Social Equity and LGBTQ Rights: Dismantling Discrimination and Expanding Civil Rights”, 2021) on May 12. Dr. Swan has been named to the Marquis “Who’s Who in America” for 2021.
