Publication Celebration for Professor Bjork's Prairie Imperialists

All are invited to attend an author talk by Hamline University Professor Katharine Bjork in celebration of the publication of Prairie Imperialists: The Indian Country Origins of American Empire. Bjork’s book explores how 20th century forays into Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Philippines and Mexico were shaped by earlier relations with Native nations back home. Indian Country, argues Bjork, has been at the heart of American imperial expansion and nation building for two and a half centuries, and has continuing significance for understanding U.S. global power in the 21st. Copies of the book will be available in addition to a 20% discount opportunity. All are welcome. Light refreshments will be served.
