Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2019

Hamline University honored Martin Luther King, Jr. with a Commemoration in the Anderson Center on Friday, January 18, 2019. This year’s program was titled, “Revisiting and Reigniting the Poor Peoples’ Campaign, 1968-2018 and Beyond!” 

The program featured speakers Associate Dean of Students Carlos D. Sneed; Associate Vice President for Inclusive Excellence Dr. David L. Everett; Molly Doran from the School of Education and College of Liberal Arts; Gaith Hijazin from residential life; and, Emily Lincoln, a Hamline student. The audience was led in song by Sherri Orr. Video presentations from Dr. King's life and the 2018 Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival rounded out the event.  

Immediately following the Commemoration, the MLK Day of Service began. Faculty, staff and students participated in service opportunities at local community organizations.
