Everett Awarded External Grant

Dr. David Everett, Associate Vice President of Inclusive Excellence, has been awarded a grant of $25,000 from the St. Paul and Minnesota Community Foundations to work in collaboration with several community partners to tackle the issue of changing racial narratives in media. This grant is part of the wider-reaching Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) work, which focuses on narrative change, racial healing, and relationship building. A core group of five other community partners that includes Minnesota Public Radio, KMOJ/89.9 Radio, Minnesota Humanities Center, North News & KRSM, Pillsbury United Communities, as well as ThreeSixty Journalism will form the Truth and Transformation: Changing Racial Narratives in Media Coalition.

This effort will culminate with Hamline hosting a two-day statewide media conference in April 2019 with educators, editors and journalists exploring problematic racial narratives and their representation in media. Congratulations, Dr. Everett!
