Announcing the New Center for Academic Success and Achievement

The Provost's Office would like to announce the formation of the Center for Academic Success and Achievement (CASA) as part of an expansion of student success efforts at Hamline University. CASA will provide students with the academic advising, academic skills support, tutoring, and resources needed to successfully manage the college experience and maximize student involvement in their own learning and development. In collaboration with other campus offices, CASA will assist students with the transition to college and support their academic endeavors throughout their entire Hamline career.

The Center for Academic Success and Achievement (CASA) supports a welcoming, engaging, and inclusive academic experience where students gain knowledge of the fundamental academic, social, and university navigational skills necessary for growth and success.

As part of this transition, Lisa Nordeen has been promoted to a new role as Assistant Dean for Academic Success and Retention. Nordeen will direct CASA and provide strategic guidance to student success initiatives and retention efforts in collaboration with the Provost's Office and units across campus. In the nine years she has been at Hamline, Nordeen has served as the Coordinator of Tutoring and Academic Skills and as the Director of Academic Success. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Science from Carleton College, a Master of Science in Kinesiology from Springfield College (Springfield, MA), and a Ph.D. in Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota.
