Professor Bolon Celebrated Isaac Newton at Baseball Game

The physics department was in motion this summer. Professor Bruce Bolon represented Hamline for a  sponsored celebration of Isaac Newton’s 375th Birthday during a Saint Paul Saints game at CHS Field on Saturday, August 18. Bolon took the mound for a successful gravity-defying ceremonial first pitch. Later, he talked physics and baseball during a game day radio interview on Alt 93.3.

Professor Jerry Artz and President Miller, along with other members of the Hamline community, attended the game. As part of the sponsorship, Hamline University distributed red rally towels that said, “From physics to fastballs, we take the lead” to 1000 fans in attendance.

Gravity night was the second Saint Paul Saint's game sponsored by Hamline during the summer of 2018. On Saturday, July 28, Hamline sponsored Saint's Superhero Night and Women's Hockey Coach Natalie Darwitz threw out the first pitch.
