2018 ALA Awards Winners

On Monday, February 12, the American Library Association announced 2018 youth media award winners, this year including two huge award winners and one honor book from from our Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Young Adults (MFAC) program. Congratulations to Nina LaCour, Laurel Snyder, and Jacqueline Briggs Martin! 

Nina LaCour, 2018 Printz Award Winner

Michael L. Printz Award for excellence in literature written for young adults was awarded to We Are Okay, written by Nina LaCour The book is published by Dutton Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers. Read more about the book  

Laurel Snyder, 2018 Geisel award winner

Theodor Seuss Geisel Award for the most distinguished book for beginning readers is Charlie & Mouse,” written by Laurel Snyder and illustrated by Emily Hughes. The book is published by Chronicle Books. Read more about the book 

Jacqueline Briggs Martin, 2018 Sibert Honor

Chef Roy Choi and the Street Food Remixwritten by Jacqueline Briggs Martin and June Jo Lee, illustrated by Man One and published by Readers to Eaters Books, was named a Sibert Honor Book. The Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Award is for most distinguished informational book for children. See more about the book
