Cadieux's Northern Spark Project

An installation co-created by Valentine Cadieux, director of environmental studies and sustainability, was one of 70 art projects featured at Northern Spark on June 1o, 2017. As featured in Hamline Magazine, the project called titled, "Making the Best of of It: Dandelion" invites people to think creatively about climate change. Drawing on her class, “Feeding a Crowd: Youth and Elders Civil Rights Work in the Food Movement”, the installation is a series of community meals that feature edible vegetation that proliferate as the climate changes.

Northern Spark is an all-night art festival that features art installations, participatory performances, and other projects across locations in the Twin Cities. This year, the festival was located along Metro Transit's Green Line. Artists were challenged to the address what actions people can take individually and collectively to cumulatively create the conditions for change. This is the second year that Cadieux has created a project for Northern Spark.
