MFA Student Receives 2017 John Wesley Award

Congratulations to MFA student Savannah Brooks—this year's graduate student recipient of the 2017 John Wesley Leadership and Service Awards for Students. 

About Savannah

Apart from pursuing her MFA, Savannah works as the editor in chief of rock, paper, scissors, the assistant fiction editor of the Water~Stone Review, and as a content specialist within Hamline's marketing department.

Outside of the university, she acts as a reader for both the Baltic Writing Residency and Carve literary magazine, and she's the founder and owner of a freelance editing business. Her work has been published in Every Writer's Resource, On the Veranda, Lime Hawk, and Inscape. She lives in Saint Paul.

The John Wesley Leadership and Service Award for Students and The John Wesley Trustee Award for Faculty and Staff are given each spring. The two undergraduate recipients will be recognized at the Honors Day program, the graduate recipient will be recognized at the end of the year Awards Program for the college/program in which they are enrolled, and the faculty and staff recipients will be recognized at the Commencement Eve ceremony. All recipients of these prestigious honors will also be presented with a $5,000 award.
