Young Writers Come to Hamline

From June 20-23, 2016, high school students filled Hamline classrooms, eager to learn the skills needed to write captivating stories, poetry, and essays. In the annual Hamline Young Writers Workshop, students prepare for college and explore creative writing with the help of Creative Writing Programs faculty.

During the four-day workshop, students explore writing through a variety of sessions. In the morning, students learn about poetry, creative nonfiction, fiction, and college essays from faculty who are published authors. In the afternoon, the students break into different elective groups to focus more on their specific areas of interest. The workshop even includes a field trip on which students visit The Loft Literary Center, Milkweed Editions, and the Minnesota Center for Book Arts.

You can learn more about the program on the Young Writers Workshop website.
