Coben Presents, To Co-Host Symposium

On October 25, Professor James Coben gave a plenary presentation at the annual Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Institute of the Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA) reviewing noteworthy state and national mediation cases from the past year. His presentation included the showing of seven short videos that he wrote and produced for the MSBA, part of a much larger collection of video resources generated by Professor Coben’s mediation case law project over the last decade.

Additionally, on November 1 - 2, Professor James Coben will co-host an international symposium at Shue Yan University in Hong Kong. The event, Modern Negotiation and Ancient Wisdom, celebrates the publication of the second issue of Tan Pan: The Chinese-English Journal on Negotiation, a peer-reviewed journal that Coben co-founded and co-edits. Both the symposium and the journal are outgrowths of the recently completed five-year Rethinking Negotiation Teaching Project funded by the JAMS Foundation. Professor Coben will remain in Hong Kong for several days after the symposium to serve as a consultant to the inspection team considering academic approval for a new masters in conflict resolution program being offered by the International Institute of Conflict Engagement and Resolution at Shue Yan University.
