The Pipers won the opening give points of the contest, starting with a pair of service aces by Heidi Larsen (Sr., Andover, Minn.). Shannon Schmidt (Jr., Bismark, N.D.) and Molly Schroeder (Sr., Buffalo, Minn.) each had a kill in the stretch that was ended by Larsen’s third ace of the young match.

Macalester won the next two points before a trio of errors by the Scots put Hamline up 8-2.

The Pipers jumped out to an early lead in the second set, going up 10-6 as Sam Greeney-Hamlin (Fy., St. Cloud, Minn.) had four kills while Schroeder added two.
