Pathway to Graduation
Congratulations, you have almost completed your undergraduate degree at Hamline. Make sure you complete the following steps prior to your graduation date for a smooth transition into post-grad life.
Submit your Online Graduate Application (formerly Intent to Graduate)
Complete your graduation application one year before you plan to graduate.
This puts you on a list for important emails about commencement and senior events, and helps us help you stay on track to complete your degree requirements.
Run a degree evaluation on Piperline with your advisor
Do this each semester to make sure you are making progress toward graduation
Finish strong and graduate with honors
You earn Latin Honors by meeting the GPA requirements below while completing 52 or more credits graded A-F at Hamline or through ACTC. Your GPA after J-Term determines your commencement honors status. The GPA is not rounded up.
- summa cum laude: 3.900 GPA
- magna cum laude: 3.750 GPA
- cum laude: 3.500 GPA
Talk to your faculty advisor about Departmental Honors. If you are working towards University Honors be sure to check in to make sure you are on track.
Exit Counseling
Learn more about managing your loans and/or TEACH Grant and gain valuable information on repayment options.
If you have borrowed federal loans (Stafford or Perkins) or received a TEACH Grant, you are required to complete Exit Counseling during your last semester prior to graduating.

Get a handle on your finances
Settle your student account with the Student Accounts Office. You will not receive your diploma or transcript until your student account is paid in full.

Receiving your diploma
Keep an eye out for your diploma, which will be mailed to the address listed on your graduation application. If this has changed, please contact registrar@hamline.edu to update the address to which your diploma will be mailed.
Diplomas are typically mailed out approximately 4-6 weeks after the terms ends and all requirements are met.
