New First Year Student Move In

First year students should plan to arrive between 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on September 2nd.

Your first stop will be at the Piper Passages check-in table in West Hall (1492 Hewitt Ave).  After you have successfully checked in you will receive a ticket which you will need to bring to your housing check-in site.

Housing check-in tables will be located at your assigned building.  University staff, faculty and student volunteers will be guiding the traffic and directing you to check-in locations.  Please plan to drive to an unloading area and then move your vehicle to a parking space.

    Housing Check-in sites will be staffed from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

    • Residents of Peterson, Schilling and Osborn Halls will check in on the Heights lawn.  The rain locations will be the west lobby of Osborn Hall, west lobby of Peterson Hall and the north lobby of Schilling Hall.
    • Sorin residents will check in at the Sorin Hall Information Desk.
    • Drew residents will check in at the Drew Hall lobby lounge.

If you received your student ID card during the Piper Preview event, please remember to bring it with you.  If you do not have a student ID card please go to Hamline Public Safety, 1535 Englewood Ave, and have it processed.  You will need your student ID card to gain entry to the entrance and stairwell doors in your assigned building.

The Sorin Hall Information desk will be the check-in site for students arriving after 1 p.m.

    Early Move-In Information

Students who are part of an authorized early arrival group(Football, Soccer, Volleyball, International Student and Pathways Orientations) and will need to follow the check-in instructions as provided by their coach or orientation leaders.

First year and transfer students who are not part of an authorized early arrival group are encouraged to wait until September 2nd to move in unless travel plans or other circumstances make an early move in necessary.

Students who are not part of a group authorized to move in early who wish to move in prior to September 2nd will need to submit an Early Arrival request Form by August 24th. The form can be found on the housing website; ERezlife.  Students who show up prior to September 2nd without submitting an Early Arrival request form will be asked to wait until September 2nd to check in.

We are hopeful that the September 2nd – September 4th  check-in times will accommodate all schedules; however, if you need to make arrangements for move in outside of these time frames, please contact the Residential Life Office via email at least one day in advance of your desired move in date.
