Mary Jensen, vice president for enrollment management at Hamline University, has been promoted to chief operating officer at Minnesota’s first university.
In her new role, Jensen is President Mayme Hostetter’s primary operational partner, overseeing undergraduate admission, graduate admission and advising, financial aid, marketing and communications, human resources and information technology services.
Jensen, a 29-year veteran of higher education, joined Hamline in August 2024 as vice president for enrollment management. During that time, Hamline experienced three straight years of enrollment growth.

I'm grateful to work alongside talented colleagues to help ensure our operations keep pace with, and support, that mission as the university grows."
Before joining Hamline, Jensen was vice president for enrollment and strategic growth at Eastern Mennonite University in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Harrisonburg, Virginia. She also served as associate provost of that institution, and director/faculty of its Leadership and Organizational Management program.
Between 1997 and 2015, Jensen worked at Bethel University as student development director, administrative director of the marriage and family therapy graduate program, and associate academic dean.
A native Minnesotan, Jensen received her bachelor's degree in music education from Northwestern College in Roseville, her master's degree in counselor education at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and her EdD in organization development at the University of St. Thomas.
Jensen assumed her new role on July 1.
