Hamline University will participate in the 2026-27 AAC&U Institute on AI, Pedagogy, and the Curriculum, a year-long national institute that supports colleges and universities in developing thoughtful, mission-centered approaches to artificial intelligence.
Hamline’s team consists of five faculty and staff members: Kate Johnston, director of student success and career integration; Binnur Ozkececi-Taner, interim dean of faculty; Kristofer Scheid, learning systems administrator; Amy Sheehan, associate university librarian; and Joe Swenson, senior lecturer in the department of philosophy.
The team will work with an AAC&U faculty mentor to build on the AI-related work already taking place across campus. The team's goal is to develop a coordinated institutional framework connecting teaching and learning, curriculum, student support, technology, governance and policy, and create a multi-year roadmap for the implementation of AI.
The Institute will also provide an opportunity to learn from peer institutions about balancing advances in AI-related technology with shared governance, transparency and the values of a liberal arts education.
