Jessica C. Lang, assistant professor of psychology, presented her research at the International Association of Relationship Research (IARR) at their 2026 conference in Glasgow, Scotland. The presentation was titled, "Impact of Partner's Attachment on Outcomes of Co-rumination."
Her presentation, examining partner effects of attachment and co-rumination, was part of a larger symposium on rumination, emotion and attachment.
The IARR brings together scholars, educators, practitioners and professionals from all fields and disciplines who share in the scientific study of personal and social relationships. Every two years, IARR members gather from around the globe to share research, discuss the state of the field, network, collaborate and more.
In addition to Lang’s presentation on attachment and co-rumination, she was a collaborator on several other presentations at the conference, including "Examining the association between self-reported and physiological measurements of challenge and threat" and "Cognitive reappraisal in context: Effects on the association between intimate partner violence and responsiveness."
Understanding the influence that people have on their romantic partners, for better or for worse, is important work paving the way towards promoting positive outcomes in relationships. Lang's research at Hamline University continues to build on this foundation, examining factors surrounding health and emotions in relationships.
