Women scholars contribute to Ozkececi-Taner's new book on Turkish foreign policy

Binnur Ozkececi-Taner, professor of political science and associate provost, recently co-edited One Hundred Years of Turkish Foreign Policy (1923–2023): Thematic and Conceptual Reflections, published by Palgrave Macmillan/Springer.

Building on her earlier collaborative work, the volume brings together women scholars of Turkish foreign policy based in different parts of the world and offering a wide range of disciplinary perspectives on Turkish politics, foreign policy and international relations.

The book’s chapters draw from fields including economics, environmental studies, peace studies, sociology, anthropology, political science and international relations to examine how Turkish foreign policy has evolved over the past century and how broader global transformations continue to shape it today.

The volume pays particular attention to themes that have often remained at the margins of traditional foreign policy analysis, including gender, civil society, human well-being, environmental challenges and diaspora politics.

At a time when foreign policy questions increasingly intersect with social, environmental, and human concerns, the book highlights the importance of interdisciplinary conversations and globally grounded perspectives for understanding both Türkiye and the changing nature of international politics more broadly.
