The College of Liberal Arts Anthropology program is piloting a new summer camp called AnthroCamp for students entering grades 5 through 8.
The camp will be held Aug. 3-7, 2026, at Hamline University and will focus on exploring what makes us human.
The anthropology program developed the camp to focus on aspects of understanding people: The study of human culture, how societies work, why people do the things they do, and the human skills that help us navigate the complex world.
During the week, campers will learn observation, patience, mapping, making, drawing and how to talk to others as they investigate language, video games, image-making, music, examine casts of bones, conduct an archaeological survey and more.
Each camper will receive a T-shirt, field notebook and backpack to use for hands-on investigation throughout the week.
