Joe Swenson, Senior Lecturer in Philosophy, presented a digital poster, “What Are You Going to Do with That? Reimagining the Humanities and the Future of Work,” at the AAC&U Conference on AI and Higher Education (Atlanta, October 28–30, 2026). Focusing on student anxiety about AI’s impact on the future of work, Swenson developed an possible framework for linking humanities competencies to NACE career competencies. The framework retains a traditional defense of the value of the humanities while showing how humanistic skills can complement emerging AI work competencies.
