Syeda Quratulain Masood, assistant professor of sociology and social justice studies, published a review in the Sociological Forum examining Laura Garbes' book, Listeners Like Who? Exclusion and Resistance in the Public Radio Industry.
The review explores Garbes' account of how U.S. public radio became a white institutional space and argues for shifting the analytic frame from the nation-state to the empire-state and so contributes to ongoing conversations about Du Boisian sociology, empire, and how domestic institutions reproduce the global color line.
