The recent STEM alumni career and networking event, hosted by Hamline Initiative for Professional and Academic Liaisons (HIPAL), connected 200 students across various disciplines, including biology, chemistry and physics, with 30 STEM alumni.
During the event on March 30, each student met with three alumni. They discussed daily job responsibilities, the experience necessary for their positions, how their time at Hamline prepared them for their careers, and offered advice to the current students.
The alumni's professional backgrounds spanned a wide range of STEM disciplines. These included medical doctors, physician assistants, athletic trainers and public health experts, and biomedical, clinical and chemical researchers. There were also representatives from forensic science, pharmacy, business, engineering and natural resources management.
For more information on HIPAL, please contact the HIPAL co-directors, Bridget Jacques-Fricke, HIPAL events and courses and Urvashi Sandhir, HIPAL Career Mentor Program.
