Jermaine Singleton, an English professor, presented his paper, “Until ‘History’ Stops Repeating Itself: New Directions in Black Speculation After Civil Rights,” at the 141st Modern Language Association annual convention in Toronto.
His panel, “Can Afrofuturism Mend the World?: The Power of Black Speculation Now," was part of the convention’s 2026 presidential theme, Family Resemblance.
