Three students named MIAC athletes of the week

Three Hamline students earned conference athlete of the week honors last week.

Brendan Ebel earned MIAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Ebel collected 15 rebounds, four steals, and three blocked shots in a split week for the Pipers. Ebel recorded 11 boards with three steals and three blocks in Hamline's 94-84 conference win over Macalester on Dec. 6. He also scored 25 points in the win. He added four rebounds and a steal in a five-point loss to Gustavus on Dec. 3.  

Ashlyn Abrahamson earned MIAC Women's Hockey Offensive Player of the Week. Abrahamson scored the game-winning goals in both of the Pipers' wins against St. Scholastica over the weekend. Abrahamson's first goal gave the Pipers a 3-2 overtime win Dec. 5, while her second score was the difference-maker ahead of an empty-net insurance goal in a 4-2 win on Dec. 6. Abrahamson also assisted on both of the Pipers' regulation goals in the team's road victory on Dec. 5. 

Nikolai Dulak earned MIAC Men's Hockey Offensive Player of the Week Dulak tallied his first points of the season in the Pipers' sweep of St. Scholastica over the weekend. Dulak scored in the second period of Hamline's 4-3 home win over the Saints on Dec. 5 before registering a go-ahead goal in the first frame and an insurance goal in the third at St. Scholastica on Dec 6. He was also credited with an assist on the game's opening score just over a minute into play.
