Being part of Hamline athletics means more than a scoreline or end-of-season record. Just ask the men’s soccer team. The team recently raised money themselves to buy and distribute backpacks and school supplies for children through Mi C.A.S.A, a nonprofit organization in Shakopee. They raised enough to fill 52 backpacks with more than 95 packs of markers, 25 bottles of glue, 120 glue sticks, 40 pairs of scissors, 464 pencils, 55 water bottles, 100 erasers, and 24 packs of crayons.
“It was a really cool experience for our guys to get to engage with the students they were helping firsthand.”

“Each player paired up with a kid from Mi C.A.S.A. and took them ‘shopping’ to select the backpack and school supplies they wanted,” says John Pucci, head coach of the team. “It was a really cool experience for our guys to get to engage with the students they were helping firsthand.”
