Professor Valentine Cadieux of the Hamline Environmental and Climate Studies program was on a public art team featured at the 40th Farm Aid Festival in the Twin Cities last week. Farm Aid was built on a long history of the Farmer Labor Movement in Minnesota. So highlighting its 100-year history represented in the Farmer Labor Party: A Minnesota Story film, the team illustrated an oversized deck of playing cards with key characters and events from the movement, and a collection of handheld bronze monuments. This work focused on competencies needed for work across urban and rural communities -- and across other differences in social positions, a key theme of the festival’s educational events.
