Meyer wins NAFSA Education Abroad Knowledge Community Award

Kate Meyer, Hamline EdD Graduate student and former GEC member, has been awarded NAFSA's (Association of International Educators) Lily von Klemperer Award (LvK) in recognition of their leadership in the field.

The "LvK" Award seeks to recognize people who, like the namesake, have "brought other [education abroad professionals] along" in the field and who maintain the highest standards of professional ethics while sharing their skills, knowledge, and expertise with all colleagues.

“Kate’s career in Education Abroad embodies the legacy of Lily von Klemperer.  Kate is an inclusive leader who is a champion for colleagues and students in the Education Abroad: always looking to encourage, support, and celebrate others.” said Susan Lochner Atkinson, chair of NAFSA’s Education Abroad Knowledge community. “Kate’s focus on inclusion also benefits students across the country with a focus on expanding VA benefits and increasing understanding of financial aid applications for education abroad.  Kate’s expertise is truly matched by their kindness.”

Kate will be recognized for this achievement during the NAFSA 2023 Annual Conference and Expo on May 30th. More information about the award can be found here.
