Trever Nicholas is a local, national, and international exhibiting artist with artwork in the permanent collections of the Tennessee State Museum, the Hungarian Multicultural Center, and MaRS Collective—Dallas, Texas. Local exhibitions include the MIA, SooVAC, Franconia Sculpture Park, and MMAA. Nicholas has also been recognized by curators and critics including Robert Rosenblum, Dave Hickey, and Hamza Walker.
Current projects include DreamLab, LLC, a fabrication, design, and consulting organization that focuses on supporting BIPOC and LGBTQ people, including artists Dyani White Hawk, Pao Her Hoa, and Monira Al Qudiri, as well as organizations such as Juxtaposition Arts and MIZNA.
His artistic practice is informed by his background as a CAD designer, 3D modeler, and CNC fabricator. Working across drawing, installation, sculpture, and digital media, he combines simple making processes with advanced technologies. Inspired by patterns within science and the physical world, his work explores material, form, and systems of production through a whimsical lens.
Current interests include exploring how public art can challenge dominant historical narratives and contribute to more equitable futures, and pursuing environmentally sustainable methods of art creation.
