Auditions

Auditions are open to all Hamline Students regardless of major or past experience. The Dance Ensemble prides itself on showcasing a wide variety of forms of expression, which evolves from a diverse group of actors, dancers, and novice movement expressionists.

Auditions take place every year in the fall. For more information, contact Kaori Kenmotsu at 651-523-2996 or email her at kkenmotsu@hamline.edu.

Instruction

Kaori Kenmotsu, Hamline's lead professor in theatrical movement and dance, guides the Dance Ensemble to physical expression through student, guest, and personal choreography. With an extensive background in yoga and Laban Movement Analysis, she encourages students to find authentic expression utilizing one's entire body.

I've completely fallen in love with dance and I owe that entirely to Kaori Kenmotsu. Kaori helps us see how movement looks on our own bodies—it's not about everyone looking the same. She changed my view of dance forever and inspired me to be a good dancer, to have fun, and to start choreographing.
