Mathematical Research
Each senior mathematics major and minor is expected to
research a topic of his or her choosing, in consultation with a faculty member.
The research results in a short research and or expository paper and a
presentation to faculty and other mathematics students in the Mathematics
Colloquium.
Examples of past research topics:
- Formal Proof of the Existence of a Nash Equilibrium
- The Laplace Equation in a Disk and the Poisson integral Formula
- Laplace Inverse Transformations
- The Steiner Ellipse
- Proof of the Five Color Theorem
- Generating Functions
- Reflective Surfaces
